Homeschooling throughout your child's high school years can be intimidating. Daunting. Freaky-Friday scary.
So much feels as if it is resting squarely upon your shoulders, homeschooling mom.
And just one aspect of this overwhelming endeavor is the transcript.
But, thankfully, this one piece of your child's high school career does not have to be enormously difficult. We have the opportunity to learn from homeschoolers who have walked this path before us ~ and having the way paved ahead of me made me a lot less nervous about creating transcripts for my five children.
Here are a few tips for you as you work on transcripts:
~ Use a transcript generating program if you need to.
There are a variety of online programs available to the homeschooling community with varying price ranges and options, which means you should be able to find one that works for you. The benefit of an online program is that all your child's info is saved remotely, making the odds that said info will all be "lost" far less likely. (Not that it has ever happened to me...and certainly not ten times....) The downside is the cost, but really that's an itty-bitty downside. And there are certainly tons of options for transcript templates - you could hop on over to Pinterest after you finish reading this post and find what you need in a flash! (At the end of this post I will share links to a couple of transcript generators we have used - no affiliate links, just sharing what worked for us!)
~ Keep track of all high-school activities & course work in one location.
Having each student's work documented in one location makes it so, so much easier to pull the transcript together at the end of each semester. Keep all their deets in one place for all four years and save yourself a whopper of a headache later on!
~ Don't use "pretty" fonts of typefaces.
The goal is an easily readable transcript, so no artistic embellishments here! Keep it simple, clear and easy to read and every admissions counselor who lays eyes on it will be blessed.
Those are just 3 tips regarding high school transcripts - I will be sharing more posts of this nature in the coming days so check back regularly. My 25 years of homeschooling should have garnered me some useful insight, right?!?
And if you would like to hear more from me about transcripts ~ specifically electives in high school ~ then you might want to check out the "All Things Homeschool" Ultimate Bundle available at the Titus 2 Discipleship with Jan L. Burt website. (Be sure to use coupon code "BLESSED" to save $20)
If you would like more info about creating and maintaining high school transcripts, feel free to leave a comment with any specific questions and I will create a post to answer them! As an aside, all five of my children have been accepted to Christian liberal-arts universities and their transcripts helped them get where they wanted to go without raising one single red flag, question or concern - so you really can handle the process of creating a transcript for your homeschooled child that a college will accept!
Have a blessed day & don't forget to scroll down for links to transcript generator options below!
