Often I find myself wondering, "How can I encourage so-and-so today?" Usually I am thinking of a friend facing a specific situation in which I know for sure a little encouragement would go a long way. But sometimes I just pray that question and kind of let it sit there until the Lord gives me an idea of some way and some one to encourage.
Today, that someone is anyone who happens to be reading this post.
Homeschooling is tough ~ but your Jesus is tougher.
Adulting is tough ~ but your Jesus is tougher still.
Having healthy friendships is tough ~ and Jesus will always prove tougher.
Health issues are tough ~ and our Healer and Deliverer is oh so tough in this arena.
Parenting is tough ~ your loving Father is tougher.
Life is tough ~ but you aren't on your own; you do life with your Jesus.
Don't take my word for it. Take His Word for it.
Ephesians 3:20 says, "Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us..."
See that little 2-letter word 'all'? It's in this verse for a reason. It's telling you something. He is able to do more than ALL you might ask Him to do, more than ALL your wildest imaginations of what He could do might total. Because He does the work through His power at work within us. Just let Him do His work, in His way, on His timetable in your life today. Then do it again tomorrow.
John 10:10 says, "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."
Those are words in red - those are the words of Jesus. This is an exact quote, not hearsay or hyperbole. Wanna talk about who is tough? Sure, your enemy is tough. Your negative thought patterns may be tough. Your health or your finances or your family dynamics may be tough. But right there, in red ink if you're an old-school Bible kind of gal, is the One who is tougher. He is the toughest. He never lies because He cannot lie. And He always, always keeps every one of His promises. What's the promise here for you? That you may have life, and have it more abundantly. Talk about tough!
My challenge to you today is for you to find 2 verses that encourage you and remind you and even scream at you that your Jesus is tougher than whatever tough thing you are facing. Do it now; don't put it off or you probably won't ever get around to it. Write those verses on an index card and tape it to your laptop. Or write them on a sticky note and tape it to the back of your cell phone. Get those truths into your mind and into your heart and don't let them out of your sight until they are as much a part of you as your own eye color. The truest thing about your situation is what God says about your situation.
Get this done and let it change your life (which it will, because it will change your thinking by renewing your mind and the Bible has something to say about that...)
Today, let Jesus be tougher than all of it.
Day 378 done :)
